Colourscales are multiple-point colour gradients that may be used to colour objects, including atoms and bonds, within Aten. There are a total of ten colourscales available, and are editable through the Prefs Window on the Colourscales tab. The first four are pre-defined and are used by specific atom colouring schemes:

Colourscale Used by
1. Charge The charge colour scheme
2. Velocity The velocity colour scheme
3. Force The force colour scheme
4. Connectivity The bonds colour scheme

Although these four are used by the various colouring schemes, they may be freely edited and redefined.
